The CCYC Bar

Like every aspect of CCYC, the bar is completely run by volunteers.  The Head Bar Steward committee manages the training and scheduling of our valued and charming volunteer bartenders.

The Head Bar Stewards have designed a multi-step Bartender Training Program which includes BASSET certifcation as well as training on how to mix drinks and use the point-of-sale system.

It would not be possible to run the bar without all of the hard-working Bartenders and Stewards who volunteer their time throughout the year to make the CCYC bar the best volunteer-run bar in the world. (Unofficially, but we are pretty sure of it!).

Joining the team

CCYC welcomes its members to join the bar team. Tending bar is fun, but also a serious responsibility.  Members must take the  Bartender Training course to be eligible to serve behind the bar.  When the bar is open there must be a Steward on duty to oversee the work of the Bartenders who are serving members.

Any Regular or Crew Member at CCYC can request to take the training course to become a Bartender.  After a Bartender has acquired significant experience and demonstrated skill at the job, they may be recommended by the Head Bar Stewards to become a Steward.  This requires the completion of an additional Steward Training Course.
